Participate in the Denver Home Renovation Bonanza!
Denver County is issuing free building permits to Denver homeowners from June 1 to 15 for a limited number of home renovations and updates. I was in the County Zoning office this past Monday, June 1st, to get a zoning variance for my chickens, and the line was filled with Denver home owners taking advantage of this opportunity.
What Denver Home Renovations are Covered
This free building permit period is to entice homeowners into spending money to upgrade their homes and isn’t available to build a new home, add an addition to their house, or other major projects requiring extensive review. It doescovers the follow renovations to an existing single family home or duplex:
- Basic interior remodel (existing kitchen, bath or bedroom)
- Basement remodel
- Roof covering repair or replacement
- Wall insulation
- Replacement of water heaters
- Change out central heating and air
- Photo voltaic systems (Solar Panels)
- Stucco or siding home exteriors
Other Rebate Programs That Can Combine into Your Denver Home Renovation to Save Energy and Money
You’ll notice upgrading air conditioning and heating, photo-voltaic (PV) solar systems, replacing hot water heaters and improving home insulation are included in the list of upgrades that have waived permitting.
