Green Festival Comes to Denver

by Derec Shuler on April 23, 2009

There’s an exciting event taking place in Denver in the next couple weeks, on May 2 and 3.  The Green Festival is holding its first session here in Denver with a lot of sessions, information, and vendors to educate and share ideas and information on green and sustainable living .  This event runs the full spectrum of agendas and organizations.  I’m personally not a progressive activist (plenty of opportunities going on if this is your thing) but there are sessions in the Green Home Pavilion track that are a great opportunity to learn about Denver sustainable living

Local Denver Home and Sustainable Living Information

Yes, the sessions are locally focused with information on good local plants for your garden, beekeeping, how to compost effectively, patio gardening, storing and preserving bulk foods, green cleaning ideas and related topics.  It’s interesting to note that urban homesteading is rapidly growing in our country right now and this a timely and helpful event to educate people on this.

My home is actually a first hand example of new urban homesteading.  We’ve started off the spring by digging up our bricked in backyard and we’re planting the entire area, perhaps adding some chickens to the mix as well.

Check out the Green Festival and explore these resources as well:
